What We Do

The California Parrot Project is a scientific organization whose objective is to:

Determine the geographical distribution of parrots in California
Determine the ecological parameters associated with successful colonization
Identify species present and determine their population sizes
Establish the extent of interbreeding between closely related congeners
Educate the public about naturalized parrots
Encourage public participation in the scientific study of urban parrots

The California Parrot Project relies on public participation to document and monitor wild parrot
populations in California. If you have seen parrots in the wild, please take a few moments
to report your sighting using our online form. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated.
